Cops ready if CMCO is extended in the Klang Valley

2020-12-04

KUALA LUMPUR: Cops will be ready in case the conditional movement control order is extended in the Klang Valley beyond Dec 6.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said sufficient police personnel will be deployed as part of the compliance operation task force.

“We will be ready in case the conditional MCO is extended.

“Checks and inspections will be stepped up as well to ensure that the standard operating procedures (SOP) are complied with, ” he said yesterday.

Comm Saiful Azly reminded the public to always practise physical distancing and avoid crowded areas.

“Maintaining good hygiene and wearing face masks are a must as well.

“We need the cooperation of the public to break the chain of Covid-19 infection, ” he added.

Meanwhile Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin said his personnel were prepared if the conditional MCO was extended beyond Dec 6.

“We are prepared for the worse case scenario so there is no question about readiness to face an extension, ” he said.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said issuing compounds for non-compliance was not something they did lightly.

“We issue these summonses with a heavy heart. We prefer if there was full compliance with the SOP’s.

“On average, over a hundred compounds are issued statewide daily, and based on my observations the most common violations were for lack of physical distancing and not wearing masks, ” he said, adding that public compliance was key to winning the battle against Covid-19.

“We cannot do this without you, ” he said.
