Socso offers free Covid-19 screening

2020-10-22

PETALING JAYA: Social Security Organisation (Socso) contributors in Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan can go for free Covid-19 screening starting today.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said Socso would only absorb the cost if the screening was carried out at its panels.

“Employers can have their workers screened for Covid-19 for free only at Socso’s healthcare services panels.

“They can arrange for screening to be conducted at clinics, laboratories or workplaces, ” he said in a statement.

Saravanan also said that the Covid-19 Prihatin Screening Programme (PSP) had been extended to contributors living in red zone areas under the conditional movement control order.

Apart from this, he said Socso was also offering subsidised screening under its Prihatin Screening Subsidy scheme.

“For the subsidised screening package, the cost should be initially borne by the employers.

“The employers can file claims through the https://psp.perkeso.gov.my portal and include payment receipts, ” he said.

Saravanan said Socso would refund the subsidy amounting to RM150 for each employee who had undergone the screening.

“Both the free and subsidised screening can only be carried out through the employers, ” he said.

PSP was offered to foreigners as well as local workers in all sectors.

The offer was also extended to those who had previously taken the Covid-19 test.

“Employers and employees should follow standard operating procedure to avoid any risk of transmission during the screening process, ” he said.
