QUESTIONS surrounding Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah’s future in MotoGP could be answered within the next few weeks.
Red Bull KTM Tech3 have signed South African Brad Binder to replace the Ampang-born for next season and with no other seats available on the MotoGP grid, Hafizh is likely to return to Moto2 next year.
It is understood that at least three Moto2 teams, including Petronas Sprinta Racing, are keen on bringing him on board.
However, Hafizh, when asked, does not want to disclose his future just yet.
“For now, I cannot reveal much. It is still being discussed.
“Maybe in the next one or two races, I will get a decision from the concerned parties,” said the 25-year-old.
Sources revealed that Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Sepang International Circuit chief executive officer-cum-Petronas Sprinta Racing team principal Datuk Razlan Razali and sponsors Petronas will meet soon to discuss on Hafizh’s future.
Regardless of the outcome, Hafizh made it clear that he remains determined to continue improving in what has been a difficult season so far with Tech3.
“I have been training hard during the summer break and will focus on improving my riding for the rest of this season,” added Hafizh.
Hafizh will race in this weekend’s Czech Republic Motorcycle GP, followed by the Austrian GP.
