2020-06-23

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry today logged three new Covid-19 cases, the lowest number to date since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the tally of infections in the country to 8,590.

"The number of active cases stands at 283. All three new cases are locally-transmitted.

"Of the three, two are foreigners and one is a Malaysian," he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham said one case involved a foreigner from the Pedas cluster.

The remaining two are from the died-at-home (MDR) cluster in Sabah, involving one foreigner and one local.

"(These two cases) are family members of Case-8506," he added.

Meanwhile, nine more patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals. The current rate of recoveries is at 95.3 per cent (8,186 cases).

No deaths have been reported today, he added.

On a related matter, Dr Noor Hisham said the church religious gathering cluster had ended.

He said this cluster, which was detected on March 15, saw 2,751 people screened.

Of the total, 191 were found positive and three had died from the virus.

"This cluster involved five generations from various areas in Sarawak.

"The Health Ministry wishes to congratulate the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee and all workers for their service and activities done for this cluster."
