Jacqueline Wong Sum Wing, the TVB actress Hong Kong singer Andy Hui admitted cheating on wife Sammi Cheng with, has spoken up about the affair for the first time.
Hong Kong’s Oriental Daily News reports that Wong ‘really, really regrets’ the affair and for letting her boyfriend, Kenneth Ma Kwok-Ming down.
The scandal, which was reported by Hong Kong media yesterday, has stunned the Hong Kong entertainment industry, in which Hui and Cheng are considered a ‘fairytale couple’. After Apple Daily exposed the scandal yesterday, Hui held a press conference at 7pm last night (Hong Kong time) in which he admitted to cheating on Cheng with the 30-year-old Wong, a TVB actress and former Miss Hong Kong first runner-up.
In Wong’s statement, she says that she needs to settle down a little and also discuss with her company (TVB) on how to respond to the scandal. “I really, really regret it. I know I have made a very big mistake, and let down all the involved parties, especially my parents and family, my company, and also Ma Kwok-Ming and his family,” she said in her statement.
A spokesperson for TVB’s artist management and development department said that the company has asked Wong to take a hiatus from work. When asked about Ma’s state of mind, the spokeperson said the actor, who is currently filming drama series The Exorcist’s Meter 2.0, has requested for privacy in order to continue his work.
