DBKL officers seizing goods from illegal operators in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, outside Sogo shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) seized three illegal stalls outside Sogo shopping centre in Kuala Lumpur for operating without a licence.
Fifteen officers from its enforcement department acted on public complaints where they nabbed three stall operators who failed to display a valid licence during the operations in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Two of them were Malaysians while another stall operator was a foreign national.
DBKL enforcement department director Azman Mahmood said the team acted on the complaint immediately.
“Operating without a licence within the city centre seemed as if they were challenging the authorities. It ruins the image of Kuala Lumpur.
“It creates an unfair environment for other traders who pay for their licence,” he said, adding that there were about 10 licensed traders operating in the area.
During the operations, DBKL officers were seen carting away goods from the illegal stalls despite the rain.
In another operation conducted on the same day from 3pm to 11pm, DBKL seized eight other illegal stalls in Jalan Silang and Lorong Haji Taib 5.
